D.C. Department of Aging and Community Living

In Ward One (which includes Mount Pleasant), the Department of Aging and Community Living has contracted with Terrific, Inc. to be the lead agency in providing community services.

The DC government’s Senior Service Network Lead Agencies provide older adults with ward-based and citywide supportive services, resources and referral linkages that assist them in living independently in their homes and community. Terrific Inc. is contracted by the District to provide the following services to Ward One residents:
Noon-time Congregate meals -- (Community Dining)
Hot, nutritious, and delicious meals in a group setting for older adults 60 years of age or older at sites throughout the District. Meals comply with US Dietary Guidelines, and contain one-third of the recommended daily allowance of nutrients. There are several cultural centers available, including the Vida Center (Hispanic cuisine), the Asian Pacific Islander Center (pan-Asian cuisine), the DC Jewish Community Center (kosher meals), and the Kibar Center (Halal meals). Lunch is available on Saturdays at the Washington Seniors Wellness Center.
